If another program is using a high amount of CPU, it is either in the middle of doing something or is having a problem and should be investigated. So, bottom line is that it does work but may need some TLC before it is fully playable. If a process other than vmware-vmx is using a high amount of CPU, it may cause the virtual machine to perform slowly because the Mac is unable to allocate enough CPU resources to the virtual machine. FYI, this was the base gog install without the co8 patch, also all installs were done as Administrator on Windows to avoid any permission based issues. Maybe it is a matter of optimizing it, or allocating more memory? I'm not sure, I was just proving to myself that it would work if necessary. A macOS VM may perform jittery compared to ones with Windows or Linux, but thats only because of the lack of proper drivers for the virtual GPU. Needless to say it isnt usable in this state. I picked a character and entered the game, so the game does work. It takes several minutes for the entire virtual screen to display after the initial connection, and then there is a couple minute round trip between clicking something and having the action take effect on the screen. The problem here was that navigating the menu was REAL slow, do-able, but slow. A Windows 7 VM fared much better, all the movies played and the game went to the main menu. My initial attempts in a Windows XP VM the game installed fine and played the movies, but after the last movie would hang at a black screen. Fusion lags behind its competitors in terms of graphics API support. Some apps become sluggish/do not behave well when running the VM in 'Unity' mode. Unfortunately I have not had very good luck with ToEE in Fusion. Consult your virtualisation tool’s instructions for moving a VM to a new drive if necessary in Parallels and VMWare, shut down the VM, close the app, then move the file. Configuring a boot camp install to run inside macOS via VMware fusion can be tricky to configure and sometimes leads to license/activation issues depending on the application. So if host has enough RAM to run properly, then extra memory cannot slow down a vm unless a memory leak issue or some other bug. I've used it recently to patch and play Planescape Torment. You could run into an issue if you assign so much RAM to VM that Host OS cannot function properly to run VM ie it is not the client running slowly per se but the host running slowly. Frojas: Anyone tried playing this game on a Mac using VMware Fusion? I wanted to see if anyone has tried it before I buy the game.įR FYI, I am currently playing ToEE in Crossover Games (wine) on my Mac Mini and it is working ok.īut, I do have VMWare Fusion so I was curious.
